The Investment Board of Nepal (IBN) has approved an investment of Rs 8.84 billion for the development of the 54-megawatt Lower Apsuwa Hydropower Project.
The decision was made during a board meeting held today, according to IBN Spokesperson Pradhumna Prasad Upadhyay.
In the same meeting, the Board decided to form a negotiation committee under the leadership of the IBN Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to table proposals on the project development agreement, financing modalities, and other matters related to the West Seti Hydropower Project.
The meeting, chaired by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who also serves as Chairman of the Board, instructed the IBN CEO to submit feasibility study reports on the Kathmandu–Hetauda–Birgunj podway project and the development and operation of the Panchkhal Special Economic Zone. The CEO has also been tasked with issuing survey licenses for these projects.
Additionally, the Board approved Karnali Transmission Company to conduct an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and feasibility study of a new route alignment for the transmission line to support the 900-megawatt Upper Karnali Hydropower Project.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel, Physical Infrastructure and Transport Minister Devendra Dahal, National Planning Commission Vice-Chairman Prof. Dr. Shivaraj Adhikari, Chief Secretary Eaknarayan Aryal, Nepal Rastra Bank Governor Dr. Bishwo Nath Paudel, and other senior officials.
