Spectacular fireworks illuminated the night sky above the Danube River on Wednesday as Hungary celebrated its national holiday. The annual display in Budapest marked St. Stephen’s Day, a major public holiday commemorating the foundation of the Hungarian state.
Thousands gathered along the riverbanks and on bridges to witness the dazzling show, which featured coordinated pyrotechnics set to music. The event is one of the country’s most anticipated festivities, celebrating Hungary’s first king, St. Stephen, who was crowned in the year 1000.
