Two young girls went missing in the Mahakali River on Sunday while bathing near Bhimduttanagar Municipality-12 in Kanchanpur district.
According to the District Police Office (DPO), Kanchanpur, the missing girls have been identified as 6-year-old Sanvi Panta and 7-year-old Jibika Panta, both residents of Bhimduttanagar Municipality-11.
DSP Sagar Bohora, spokesperson for the DPO, said that a search operation is currently underway. A joint team comprising personnel from the Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and the Nepali Army has been deployed to locate the missing children.
Residents reported that several young girls were bathing near the riverbank at the time of the incident. The two victims reportedly disappeared while in the water, prompting immediate concern and the launch of the rescue effort.
