In a move to strengthen agricultural infrastructure and improve market access for local farmers, Jaimini Municipality has launched an "Agro Ambulance" service dedicated to transporting agricultural produce.
Deputy Mayor Harihar Sharma stated that the municipality acquired the specialized vehicle for Rs. 5 million, with matching funds provided by the federal government. The initiative is designed to support the transportation needs of around 500 agricultural firms, cooperatives, and farmer groups operating in the municipality, representing over 4,000 farming households.
“The Agro Ambulance will help reduce post-harvest losses and ensure timely delivery of produce to the market,” Sharma said. “We’re also offering subsidies, training, and technical assistance to promote youth involvement and commercial farming.”
As part of its broader agricultural modernization plan, Jaimini Municipality has also established a produce collection center in Kushmisera in partnership with the Prime Minister's Agriculture Modernization Project, and a chilling center has been constructed in Damek Sarkuwa to preserve perishable goods.
