In a unique initiative to highlight the distinctive features of the Mundum Trail – designated by the government as one of Nepal's top 100 must-visit tourist destinations – a national art workshop was successfully organized in Temkemaiyung.
Twenty renowned national artists participated in the three-day workshop, which concluded on Wednesday. Their collective efforts aimed to visually encapsulate and promote the essence of the Mundum trekking route through various artworks. The artists depicted iconic elements such as the elusive Red Panda, often sighted along the trail, as well as Tayama Khiyama, a significant cultural symbol of the Kirant community, local costumes, and the traditional Chindo.
Saroj Basnet, Chairperson of Temkemaiyung Rural Municipality, stated that the workshop's primary objective was to foster the development, promotion, and publicity of the Mundum trekking route through the power of art. He also revealed an ambitious goal to establish the Mundum Trail as a prominent center for yoga and meditation. The compelling artworks created during the workshop are slated for a public exhibition in Kathmandu.
The workshop concluded with the presence of Naradmuni Hartamchhali, Chancellor of the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts. Chancellor Hartamchhali expressed his confidence that the event would not only contribute to the preservation of art and culture but also significantly boost the visibility and appeal of the Mundum Trail.
