Global blood donor and blood donation advocate Arjun Prasad Mainali has donated blood for the 206th time.
At a special blood donation program under a blood donation-related campaign organized by the Blood Donors' Society of Nepal on Sunday, Mainali volunteered to donate blood for the 206th time at the Province Blood Transfusion Centre, Bharatpur. Mainali said he has been continuously donating blood since 1987.
He shared that he has donated blood 134 times and platelets 72 times in different countries of the world. Mainali mentioned, "I have donated blood 206 times in 20 countries of six continents of the world. The blood which I have donated so far will help to save the lives of 618 people."
He was inspired to blood donation after reading a story 'The Blood Donor' by Jo Thomas while studying at the certificate level in Kathmandu in 1986.
Hailing from Sipali of Kavrepalanchowk district, 56-year-old Mainali started donating blood at 19 and has already donated blood for a record 206th time. Associated with different organizations related to blood donation, Mainali is currently living in America.
He runs blood donation-related awareness programs in different countries of the world.
